Biggest new features of Google’s Android N

 1.Developer conference -- Google I/O.

Generally, the upcoming version of Android operating system is the key highlight of Google's developer conference -- Google I/O.

But this year, the search giant had already announced the next version of Android, dubbed Android N, in March. So, though there weren't too many surprises on Android N front at Google I/O this year, the company did announce a few more features coming in the next Android OS.

 

2. virtual reality platform

Google at the keynote event announced the integration of Android VR and Daydream in the Android N OS. Daydream, for those unaware, is a virtual reality platform built on Android N. A Daydream-certified smartphone when clubbed with the new VR mode in Android N is supposed to enhance its performance inside headsets.

3.Google keyboard improvement 

Google keyboard will also be getting some new features in the Android N. The search giant will be bringing new themes for the keyboard, which users can further customise by adding or removing borders between the keys or by adding colours. Android N will also include new emoji characters that are Unicode 9 certified.

4.notification panel  

 This is probably one of the biggest update in Android N. Google with the new mobile operating system will bring an enhanced notification panel from where users can directly reply to chats, expand them more than what is currently possible in Android Marshmallow to access more options, and access quick toggle options without swiping down the notification panel twice.

5.new settings page

Android N also has a new settings page. The new Settings page shows suggestion on top regarding what users might have not done yet in their handsets such as setting up email accounts or voice commands. All the options also show bit of an information below it. For instance, the battery option shows the percentage of battery remaining and for how long the smartphone will be able to run. There is a new Data Saver feature as well.

6. double tap on the multi-window

With the new Android OS, users will be able to simply double tap on the multi-window button to access the last app or page they opened in the phone. There is also a “Clear All” option on Nexus devices to get rid of all the apps opened in background. Other Android OEMs already have this time-saving option.

7.split-screen mode

Android N is finally bringing the split-screen mode natively to the smartphones. Like seen in high-end Samsung smartphones, the split-screen mode lets users browse an app on one window, while working on another app in the second window. Both windows can also be resized. Apps need to be updated to become compatible with this feature.
